Dramatic Eyeliner FTW!

I was browsing randomly online last night when I came across a picture of a lovely lady from Suicide Girls. Her makeup intrigued me, so I thought it would be fun to recreate! Obviously, mine is not as neat as hers, but it was still fun to do!

The original makeup job:

And here's my version. (I'm not entirely sure why I look like someone just kicked my puppy. I didn't even notice until just now as I was uploading them onto here. Sorry!)

I know... in comparison, mine looks like crap. In all fairness, I did it in like... 5 minutes... and it was late. But it was fun! I might do it again and spend more time on it this time. (I promise!) Oooh, and did you notice that my hair is lighter? I bleached it myself! I don't really know exactly what color I was going for, so much as just trying it out and praying it didn't go traffic cone orange, haha!

Daring in Blue and Black

For a little while now, I've wanted to recreate the Green With Envy look by Dana LaJeunesse. She's so incredibly talented, and it's a beautiful look! Finally, I got around to doing an inspired version of the look, but instead of the gorgeous greens she used, I decided to substitute blue. The look isn't as amazing as hers, but I'm not as talented as she is, either. Maybe someday, I'll be able to match up to her.

I really think the right side came out better than the left, but as I have a very difficult time working on the left side of my face because of my vision, I think it came out alright, I suppose, haha.

A little bit of random

So this may come as a surprise to you all, but I actually have two YouTube channels. One of them, I'm sure the majority of you know about: detailoring, and then I have a vlog channel: KaylaBug84. I've only got a couple of videos on the second one, but I'm thinking about starting to do more. I've actually been challenged to do a 365 Vlog, so if I do end up starting that, I'll probably be posting the videos there, and possibly even then posting the videos here on this blog. Any interest in watching them if I do that?

I've also got an idea for my regular YouTube channel, but it would likely make my channel a bit racier than it is. Perhaps I should start another YouTube channel altogether for that... no details yet... it's still just an idea in the formation... I know I have a few readers out there that are a bit more sensitive to things of a sexual nature, so I would definitely keep that in mind for future posts, should I actually get around to starting up that idea.

I do have a couple of products that I need to do reviews for. If you have anything you'd like for me to review, let me know! I love doing reviews, it's kind of a challenge, really.

I was contacted by the lovely folks over at LeLuv.com asking if I would like to review one of their products. They had me choose one of their products to try out. "Rabbit, butterfly, pussy pump, glass,dildo Pick your poison?" I decided to try out the pink Pyrex glass dildo.

First, I was blown away by their customer service. They responded to every message I sent, and every email I wrote. And not only did they respond, but it was prompt and polite!! I was very impressed! Too often you go to contact companies and get curt, short, and sometimes even NO emails in return at all!

And on top of that, their shipping was BEYOND incredible! I got an email that the package had shipped on Friday, and it was in my mailbox on Monday! It was fast and discrete! Anybody could have looked at the package, and would have had no idea what it contained! (Did I mention that their shipping within the US is FREE!)

With this particular product, it came with a free bag. I was expecting a simple little bag to hold it in, more for looks than anything else. What it came with was a soft pink bag, big and plush to best protect the toy!

(Yes, I know what that looks like, haha!)

The dildo came stored inside the bag, perfectly protected, and undamaged!

I'm not gonna lie... I was pretty anxious to try it out! Later that night, after lighting a couple of candles and changing into something a little lacy and sexy, I lured my husband into the room, and pulled out our... special box... *wink wink, nudge nudge*

I do have to say, the glass is a whole new experience! (And a pretty enjoyable one at that!) One great way to make sure you get the best time from your new toys is to go online and research different ways to *safely* use them. Glass is well-known for retaining temperatures well. So you could cool it or warm it (under water usually preferred, and be careful how hot or cold you get!), and it holds the temperature remarkably well, and it makes for a unique experience every time!

Overall, I would give the product five stars!! ★★★★★

Raving Beauty's May Shadows

I know it's been a while since I've actually gotten around to posting on here! I'm a horrible blogger. Things have been soooo incredibly busy! The baby has been losing a lot of weight, and nobody can figure out why. He's going through all kinds of testing to figure it out, and as you can imagine, it keeps me on my toes a lot.

I received my Raving Beauty shadows for the month of May in the mail the other day, and they're gorgeous! I'm so excited to show them to you all! (Check out her store to see the new colors she added recently as well! She's also added a lipgloss base to make your own lipgloss colors, and she also added Aroma Melts!!)

This month, I received Black Sapphire, Iced Beige, Dark Chocolate, and Sunset Orange. The swatches for the shadows are here:

The top row is with primer, and the bottom row is dry. From left to right, we have Iced Beige, Sunset Orange, Dark Chocolate, and Black Sapphire. I really couldn't say that I have a favorite of any of them, they're all amazing and each has their own wonderful qualities! I can honestly say, though, that I have a few looks in mind with a few (or all!) of these colors that I can't wait to do tutorials for! So keep your eyes open for them on the YouTube channel!

BABIES Movie Coming Out!

I've been away for a while! I'm sorry! But I'm back now! Did you miss me?

I've got lots of great posts coming up, reviews, tutorials, and more!

But first! There's a movie coming out soon, and I've been approached by the lovely folks over at BzzAgent to help promote it! So here I am! I watched the trailer, and it looks adorable. Seeing as how I have a baby of my own in the same age range as the cuties in this movie, you have to know I was a bit of a sucker for the gummy grins.

This is the poster for the movie! The basic idea of the movie is to follow four kids from the day of their birth to their first birthday. Babies from across the world! One from Namibia, one from Japan, one from Mongolia, and one from California. Just in the trailer alone, I had moments where I just laughed out loud. This definitely looks like a movie that moms would love, as well as everybody else too!

I think a great description of the movie is in its blurb:

A quick update

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much lately! I've been sooooo busy with packing and getting ready to move, that I honestly haven't had a chance at all to sit down to post!

The move is tomorrow morning, and hopefully, we have internet set up already at the new house. That would be ideal, since I've been getting the runaround from other companies as far as trying to get it set up out there! Oh my heck! Let's all hope it's set up!

My favorite foreign film is House of Flying Daggers.

I love the imagery in the movie, the colors, and the whole storyline. In reality, I'm kind of a sucker for the Asian foreign films anyway, but this one really takes the cake. If you've never seen it, you really should.

A fresh new 2010

I don't know about most of you, but 2009 kind of sucked a lot. I'm looking forward to the new year.

Things I'm looking forward to this year:

Moving to our new house! Using Google Maps, I was able to get a picture of it. I know it doesn't look like much from the outside, but it'll be home! It's nicer and newer than the home we're in now, and easily TWICE as big!! And in only just over 3 weeks! (Did I mention the huge walk-in closet??)

My first contest on YouTube! It's going to be starting this Sunday -- January 3rd -- and I'm so excited! I hope we get lots of entries! I'm co-hosting with a couple of ladies, so it'll be lots of fun, I'm sure!

Potty-training my son! Well, it's not a guarantee... but I'm REALLY hoping it'll happen. Lord knows he's FOUR now. I was really hoping to have this done by now. I bought him a training potty when he turned TWO. So this has been a work in progress for two years now! Please pray for our potty-training success.

Our five year anniversary! On September 17th, it'll be the five year anniversary of mine and my husband's wedding! That's quite a mark, considering we were separated for one of those years! To come back after a year, get back together, and have another child, and still be together and happy... awesome!

This is going to be one of those rare posts where I don't post about makeup, where I'm not window shopping, not sharing my LOTD... I'm just blogging. Is that okay with you all? Haha.

This Christmas season, I've been trying really hard to feel the Christmas spirit. Being that it's the first Christmas since my dad passed away, it's making it very hard, but I'm still trying. My boys deserve a great holiday, even without their grandpa physically here. I know that I'm probably going to spend half of Christmas Day in tears, or close to it. That's okay.

However... this Christmas season, I received a gift that I'm still surprised and very happy about. I've made friends with some really truly wonderful ladies. I've been getting to know them over Twitter and in BlogTVs -- cuz that's how people make friends in the 21st Century, doncha know -- and they really are so very sweet. (And hysterical as all get-out.) They're girls that I've been watching on YouTube for the last few months, I've seen them tweeting, and I've attended BlogTVs that they've hosted or attended in the past, and I always thought that they were "so cool", and when they spoke to me, that made my day. (Yeah, I'm a sheltered stay-at-home mom. Of the nerdy persuasion even.) And now, I'm proud to say, they consider me among their friends. I'm one of the girls.

Between those girls and the other friends I have -- some of which have stuck it through with me for a few years now -- I am truly blessed.

I hope you all are as equally blessed with friends and loved ones this holiday season. Have a very happy holidays.

Not only are those ladies wonderful in making me laugh, but they're helping me stay sane! We're coming to the end of the Christmas season here, followed swiftly by New Years. As soon as Christmas is over though, I've got to start breaking out the moving boxes! We've set a moving date for January 23rd. We'll be moving to a new house, easily twice the size -- or more! -- than we're in now. We're not moving far, probably just about ten miles, but the difference in house and in neighborhood will make all the difference in the world. I cannot wait. Seriously. Honestly. We're getting a great deal on the place -- we're only renting, but in this market, with our credit, and our financial situation, you gotta do what you gotta do.

We put down the deposit on the house tonight. They've offered to lend us one of their box trucks for us to move instead of having to pay for a Uhaul, which is wonderful. With my husband working on the stock crew at night, he can bring home plenty of boxes for us to use for packing. On Monday, I'll be calling the new landlady to talk to her about going over to the place to help with the cleaning and painting. (By doing so, she's cutting us a great discount on the first month's rent!) When I go over there, I'll take over my camera so that I can do a little tour of the house. It's just a double wide manufactured home, but it's so much bigger than where we are now, I'm actually and truly beyond ecstatic.

Now, not only will the moving be going on, but after the New Year, the contest I'm hosting with Amber and Melissa will start!! If we stick with the current planned time-frame, it'll be ending shortly after my move. Am I worried? Actually, I'm not. I'm thrilled. Having that contest up will hopefully make up for my decrease in videos and posts for the month. I'll keep you all posted!

LOTD - Hot and sassy!

I wanted to do something warm-colored and hot... something to match my leopard print earrings, should my mailman decide to suck and not bring my GroupieGlam order today. I'm fairly pleased with out it turned out, overall. I was initially going for a finer line with the black, but ended up deciding to blend it up a bit to make it more subtle. Maybe next time, I'll go more dramatic. Who knows.

A Christmassy LOTD

My LOTD today, a Christmas themed look. I'll do a tutorial for it either later tonight or tomorrow. I used Raving Beauty's Electric White on the inside, Red Hot in the center of my top lid, Carbon on the outside, and Irish Green on the lower lashline. My eyeliner is Wet n Wild's cream liner in black, and I'm wearing both Rimmel's Glam Eyes and CoverGirl's Lash Blast Length for mascara.

Okay, I normally don't share little forwards, but this was funny, and I figured if anybody would find humor in it, it would be my fellow friends here online, haha.

Last night, my kids and I were sitting in the living room and I said to them, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.'

They got up, unplugged the Computer, and threw out my wine.

Daily LOTD - a bit late in the day!

Told you I'd probably forget... haha. To be honest... this isn't so much the makeup I wore today--which was basically nothing *cough cough*--as a look I came up with for a contest on YouTube, and liked it so much, I kept it on for the rest of the day.

(I kinda fiddled with the colors with this one on my Photoshop. The only thing that came out accurate was my hair color, haha.)

The last couple of days, I haven't gone hugely dramatic in the eyeliner. I was going for more of a dark evening/glam look with this one, and didn't want to take away from the shimmer and sparkle by overdoing the eyeliner.

I'm using Too Faced Shadow Insurance as a primer, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean as a base. Then I applied Raving Beauty's Carbon all over the lid, and just above the crease, and a tiny bit under the lower lashline. Then on the very inner corner, I applied Raving Beauty's Electric White to brighten the look a bit. On top of the Carbon on the inner 2/3s, I applied Raving Beauty's Silver to add that sparkle/shimmer to it. On the other 1/3 and in the V, I applied Treasure by Spell Cosmetics, from their Jewel Thief line. This defined the crease a bit more, as well as continuing to add a bit more sparkle. I used CoverGirl's Perfect Point Plus to put a soft subtle line on my upper lashline, and to line my waterline. For mascara, I used CoverGirl's Lash Blast Length.

A lazy day

I'm going to try to start posting my LOTDs and whatnot. I probably won't always remember, but here's a start.

Last night, I put on this nailpolish that I got at Fred Meyer last Thursday for about $2.99. It's called Sinful Colors Professional, in the color #815 Let Me Go.

It's kind of a fun color, a pearly pink. This is three coats, so it's a fairly sheer color as well. It's subtle, elegant, and yet still fun. I like it. Definitely more wearable than the blue I was wearing before, as much fun as those were!

And my LOTD is something fairly neutral. I just wasn't feeling into the dramatic and colorful today. Couldn't really say why. Guess I'm just in kind of a funk or something. Getting too close to Christmas, I suppose.

With this look, I'm wearing Too Faced Glamazon on the lid, the gold color from Stila's Precious Pearl pallet in the crease and up to the brow bone, Too Faced Full Frontal in the outer V and along the bottom lashline. Just on the outer edge of the lid, I lightly applied the blue shadow from Stila's Precious Pearl pallet, to give it just a hint of color. For eyeliner, I used CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus in black, and CoverGirl Lash Blast Length for mascara. Subtle and neutral.

Web-Window Shopping... Again

You know, I just love going online sometimes and seeing what deals are out there. What the new styles are, and what I'd LOVE to wear... Naturally, I started with Forever21.

Peacock Feather Pendant - $4.80

I don't know what it is about this necklace, but I think it's beautiful. I can't say it's simplistic, because it's really not. I just think that it's graceful looking, and fabulous.

Noble Knuckle Ring - $4.80

Now, it's entirely possible that I've lost my damn mind with this one... but I love the color. The design... eh... but the color of the stones is beautiful. It also comes with pink stones and black stones.

Turn-Key Earrings - $5.80

According to the description, these hang 4.5". I think they're fun! I wouldn't be able to wear them much, what with having a baby with grabby fingers, but how cute!! And I could wear them after he got a bit older as well. I do love my dangly earrings.

Painted Shell Rounds - $3.80

These are fun. They'd be awesome with a black t-shirt or white t-shirt, and a pair of jeans. Everybody needs a fun pair of earrings like these. I don't know that I have a pair quite like this, though I have some that are similar, be it in color or the shell type.

Beaded Wire Hook Earrings - $3.80

These look actually like they'd be easy enough to make... if I had the patience for beads. However, small children and beads seldom mix with good results.

I wasn't terribly struck by any of their shirts or anything... just accessories this time. And oh, I do love accessories.

Raving Beauty Cosmetics Haul: December

I got my package in from Annette at Raving Beauty Cosmetics today, and I was thrilled! The colors are so very pretty! I chose three for the season, one because I have the sample size, and it is my ABSOLUTE favorite eyeshadow EVER (in reality, I didn't choose it, Annette included it because she's heard me rave about it in EVERY video I use it in, haha), and one just because it's a beautiful color, and I'm starting to appreciate the simplicity of matte shadows.

The colors I got were: Berry Wine, Electric White, Silver, Irish Green, and Red Hot.

(Top: Over Too Faced Shadow Insurance \ Middle: No base, dry \ Bottom: No base, wet)

These swatches don't truly do the colors justice. For some reason, the Berry wine just simply doesn't show up as red purple in the pictures as it does in reality. And the Red Hot truly is more of a bright shimmery blood red than in the picture as well. Hopefully, as I use the colors in various makeup looks, you'll be able to see the colors better.

Hard Candy Cosmetics Review

For those unaware, Walmart has started carrying the Hard Candy line of makeup. It's found exclusively there, and for a pretty great price! All the items--ALL OF THEM--are under $10! There are concealers, eye shadows, eyeliners, liquid liners, lipsticks, blushes, lip glosses, glitter body sprays, and more!

I picked up a few of the items my last couple of trips there, and wanted to review them with you!!

Kal-Eye-Descope Baked Eyeshadow Duos in Pick up Line (067) [on the left] and Secret Rendezvous (066) [on the right]. This is my first experience with baked eyeshadow, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. As far as color pigmentation, it isn't terribly overwhelming, but you can pack on the color to get some more payoff, without too much worry about creasing. For a more in-depth review, check out the YouTube video below. This product, I give 4 out of 5 stars. ★★★★

Eye Candy Cream Eyeshadow and Glitter Eyeliner in Electra. This product didn't impress me much at all. The "eyeshadow" itself is a very strange consistency, doesn't spread very well, and when I did try wearing it, no matter how I wore it, even over Too Faced Shadow Insurance, it creased like crazy. The eye pencil that it came with, while very small, wasn't too bad. For a more in-depth review, check out the YouTube video below. This product, I give 2 out of 5 stars. (Mostly for the pencil.) ★★

Walk the Line Liquid Eyeliner in Turquoise. This product was kind of fun. The color payoff takes a couple of layers to really get the punch, but overall, it's not bad. The brush leaves some to be desired, though. For a more in-depth review, check out the YouTube video below. This product, I give 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. ★★★★

DIY: Earring Storage

I built an earring hanger for most of my earrings. I still have some that I haven't put on there yet, and I don't know that it's a permanent fix, but it'll do for now. I got the idea by something that DulceCandy87 did in a video. She used lace for hers. I didn't have any lace on hand, nor the patience to drag my kids to the store in order to buy some, so I used one of the mesh laundry bags I'd bought at the Dollar Tree. We bought them to hold our dishes to dry when camping, and had a couple left over. I just used a piece of fabric over the top, used a wire hanger, folded the top of the bag over the bottom of the hanger, used the fabric over that, and glued it together with craft glue. Ta-da! Earring hanger! Later, I might buy lace and make it prettier... but for now, it's functional, and that's what I was going for!

Playing with makeup... and replicating a look.

I was playing around on my computer, looking through various makeup blogs, and I found a super cute look by Queen B Makeup, and really wanted to duplicate it!! Here's her original look:

Mine is obviously a more muted version of her look, and not as good as hers is... but it's pretty cute!

Just once, I wanted to get something for myself. So, at the Buckle, I saw a pair of shoes, incredibly cute, but they didn't have my size at the store, so they had to order them. They're not in yet, but they'll let me know when they are. They were on sale for $30.

According to my sister, if a snake and a brain damaged leopard had kids, they would have these shoes. But you know what? I like them.

A little bit of online windowshopping

Okay... confession. I've only been shopping at Forever 21 like... twice. But I've never actually bought anything there. The one in the area that we have only opened up this year, and while they were building it, I was afraid it was really expensive. I'd never even heard of it!

Ever since it opened up, I've been kind of perusing their website, falling in love with various items. Tonight, it was their jackets. Seriously... it's obscene.

Satin Safari Trench - $37.80

This... this is sexy. It's satin, it's trench (which is in this season, right?), and it's leopard print. Kill me now... I'm in love.

Eternal Love Slub Jacket - $24.80

It's entirely possible that I'm nuts for liking this... but I would wear this... a lot. Like... all the time. I would buy shirts just to wear under it. I love the design, the fit, the style, the color... I may have to justify the money to spend on this one... assuming I can find it in the store. I don't know if I can justify the cost and shipping as well.

Troop Military Vest - $24.80

I'm not entirely sure what I would wear with this one... but I think it's pretty cute.

Zipper Belted Slvls Jacket - $24.80

Okay, really? For less than $25, how can you turn this down??? I know there's no way I'm lucky enough that this one is sold at our local store, but it's sooo cute! Kinda defeats the purpose of wearing a jacket, what with the lack of sleeves and all, but I would layer over it just to get away with wearing it!

Here are a few international beauty secret tips that I found online! I've tried a few of them out, and they really are great!

* In Spain, they apply thin slices of potato on their eyes for ten minutes to lighten the skin and fade dark circles after a night of partying.

* Scandinavian women banish puffiness with 15 to 20 splashes of ice-cold spring mineral water.

* In France, they apply freshly cut and mashed grapes to make skin softer and more youthful, because grapes contain potent antioxidants and have moisturizing benefits.

* Italian women rub olive oil on their lips to condition lips and add shine.

* Greek women massage olive oil onto their skin to soften dry, irritated skin and to treat sunburns.

* In Asia, women use white camellia nut oil to moisturize, condition, nourish, and soften skin. Shalini shares that she knows a few celebrities who swear by this oil for combating stretch marks while pregnant. Women also use it to promote hair growth, treat burns, and strengthen nails.

* The women of Zimbabwe drink a cup of hot tea with lemon at the beginning of the day to cleanse the system and jumpstart the metabolism.

* In India, women massage coconut oil into their hair and scalp once a week to strengthen hair, promote growth, help with split ends, and make hair shiny.

* To get rid of dandruff, Australians add a few drops of eucalyptus or tea tree oil to shampoo.

Also, I love to eat an apple after a meal, just to cleanse my teeth – they always look polished afterward. If there aren’t any apples in the fruit bowl, a strawberry will suffice. The juice or pulp of strawberries contains malic acid which serves as an astringent and can lighten surface stains… pineapples work the same way. But you need to remember to brush your teeth later! The acids in the fruits will wear away your enamel.

Raving Beauty Cosmetics: Haul, Review, and Tutorial

Last Thursday, I placed an order with Raving Beauty Cosmetics after watching several reviews on their products, and I've been blown away by both the customer service and the makeup! The owner, Annette, is BEYOND sweet, and truly cares about her customers and her product. Not only did she personally send me an email a couple of hours after my order to thank me, but she also had my order in the mail that SAME DAY, and I received it two days later! I didn't expect to get it for almost a week, so talk about a wonderful surprise!

I spent some time playing with the eye shadows, and trying out different looks before I decided to do the review and tutorial, become familiar with it all, and I am absolutely tickled pink. They are sooo pretty and so shimmery, it's remarkable. If you're looking for the perfect shadow to foil, these are your best bet! I received my new CoverGirl Lash Blast Length mascara from Amazon.com yesterday, and was ecstatic to try it out! I compared the results from the original Lash Blast and the new Lash Blast Length, and here are the results I came up with:

On the left, we have the regular Lash Blast, and on the right, we have the Lash Blast Length. I see a definite difference! I'm very happy with my purchase!
